How the Shark Tank TV show series is keeping me going!

I rarely watch US-based shows and I can maybe count them on my fingers. Well, since the recent years.. I always want my time to be productive as much as possible and who would have taught that watching a television show will be one of them. Man, I sure do hope that more shows in the future will be this informative and inspiring at the same time.

I know many of their fans who started watching their first episodes way back the year of 2009 - 2010 up until now are still solid and I would never question them why. So as a brief introduction, I graduated with a degree in entrepreneurship, and knowing that, I would like to thank my cousin (Meki) for referring this show to me just right before the pandemic started. How perfect! Haha!

So what kind of show is Shark Tank?

Shark tank is an American business reality television series that feature business pitches where big-time investors, venture capitalists, lenders, or whatever the situation needs (called "Sharks") may or may not invest depending on its potential to grow. Usually, it comes with a price of having a piece of equity of the pitching businesses or simply being a co-owner of it.

The show is filled with entertainment (to the point where I was laughing when the sharks are laughing - getting their humor), lessons and tips (both in life and in business), and reality where most of us can relate. One of the best takeaways here is the inspirational stories where I personally find hope and determination to continue and grow my current projects and businesses just like growing this blog of mine.

Who are the so-called "Sharks"?

Well, they had guest/celebrity sharks like Kevin Harington (who was a regular during the pilot season), Ashton Kutcher, Chriss Sacca, Rohan Oza, Alex Rodriguez, Kendra Scott, Daniel Lubetski, Blake Mycoskie, to even Maria Sharapova.. But the current regulars are the following:

in no particular order..

Lori Greiner - Known as the queen of QVC which is a shopping channel in the US, who is also known to feature and market successful products almost overnight.

Mark Cuban - The billionaire owner of the NBA team Dallas Mavericks with a media specialty of selling their video portal to Yahoo.

Daymond John - The name behind the global brand FUBU making him one of the best not only in terms of the industry of clothing but the whole retail and the merchandising world.

Barbara Corcoran - Founded the Corcoran group, a real estate brokerage in New York City which was later on sold for millions of dollars.

Kevin O'Leary - Known as "Mr. Wonderful" who started his journey all from his basement selling his software products and technology company for multimillions of dollars.

Robert Herjavec - The internet security software shark who also sold it for millions of dollars. Known also for his specialty in the online technologies.

Who is my favorite shark?

Tough question, really. They all bring something to the table. Blake Mycoskie would be an easy pick for the guest sharks as per his cool and smooth demeanor while interacting with some of the "business pitchers". I like how he goes straight to the point and makes some of the conversations simple so I would like to think working with him will be a match to my personality, making all the work easier generally.

Going back to the regular sharks? Hmm.. I like how Lori magnifies how fast she works since time is really of the essence (cliche but in business, this is really, really important in a lot of aspects).. I like how Mark makes things look easy when deciding on things but behind it is already a well-planned strategy on how to grow the business in that short span of given time (a lot of experience has given him that).. As per Daymond, he is just one of the most passionate sharks out there who wants to inspire people especially kids that would make a great candidate as my favorite.. Haha! That sounded differently. It looks like I am the shark here.. but just for now. Lol. Barbara is just a charmer. I love how she selects and bets her decisions weighing more about who the entrepreneur is and how he or she works and the personality that goes with it. On a serious note in terms of who would I be picking to be my shark if I have the choice, I would be picking team Robert! *We would be high-fiving like crazy now haha! That is due to the mission of growing this blog, He would just the perfect fit for that. And his happy energy in the studio is just contagious! I want some of that too! Haha! But surprise, surprise.. The favorite shark award goes to Mr. Wonderful! I really can relate and agree with some of his business ethics but not so much about his personal decisions. I find him really, really funny and interesting which makes the show alive and different. I would honestly tell that without him, the show would be somehow less of everything.. so cheers to this Kevin! *Insert here the Chevaliers du Tastevin phrase haha!

Commented to their page last year XD

And as we go through this pandemic and you guys still manage to make the show happen, I would like to congratulate the team behind the show. You guys are doing a phenomenal job. Please tap yourselves on the back and appreciate what you guys have already done and are continuously doing. You are helping and inspiring a lot of people all over the world. And I am happy to be one of the many who can testify to this.

I always look forward to watching the newest episode and every time I do, I always feel energized to strive more for this blog after watching it! It is like fuel to me.. simply hearing such entrepreneurial stories and discovering some people actually go through such processes are something to learn from already, and when you add what the sharks think of it and see some of them take off after are pearls of wisdom of business to take in. All I can say is "Thank you Shark Tank!"

Here in the Philippines, most kids are raised and taught to finish school in the mission to land a great job after graduation. There is nothing bad about that, to be honest, but I am happy to see such a spark to revolutionize entrepreneurship.. that we have that option and we can start it young.

I can't wait to see the upcoming and new episodes! A greeting of appreciation from the Philippines!

  12. I don't have a television, got rid of it over 10 years ago. However, I do believe that when you watch a program that will help you improve you and your families situation or make you more confident then that is good.
